At the end of October we helped our neighbours with their grape harvest. The forcast was rain so they enlisted a group of us so we could get it done quickly. We pressed around 700 litres in one day in Jose's small Adega in his garden. Eugenie's rabbit, chicken and pork stews cooked in the forno kept us going.

Vonny's Vegetables
Some of you may already know that when Vonny puts her hand to something, she tends to do it very well and with her whole heart. Now I have decided, with Von's permission to photograph the progress and seasonal changes to her vegetable patch. I might also learn how to grow my own with the patch she has set up for us alongside our house. (So far my Kale which we were given as small sprouts are actually growing!). I have also sampled old- fashioned pumpkins, mustard greens, broad beans, French beans, round cucumbers, huge curvy courgettes, potatoes, amaranth leaves and copious amounts and varieties of tomatoes. Thanks Von. x

Vindima - Grape Harvest
While Steve and Sophie were here last weekend, we all went to the next village to help Larinda, the local shopkeeper with her Vindima. It was a most unusual thing to do on a Saturday morning, in London I would have been waiting for Maya to finish her dance class at The Laban but instead I was dangling over a hillside picking big juicy grapes. It was a great day.
